Jardine / Hare Penthouse
Complete refurbishment and extension of three storey penthouse apartment in a Victorian mansion block in Bloomsbury conservation area for a writer/academic and an architect.
Built in two phases 13 years apart, phase two further extends and augments the Phase one works completed in 1997, with a substantial roof addition to provide extra living space, roof terrace and home-office areas.
“Working with Renato Benedetti is a pleasure. Starting with a rabbit’s warren of dark little rooms for phase one, the complete transformation achieved by their ingenious manipulation of space, light and materials to fulfil every aspect of our brief and more, is remarkable; but doing it on a budget is extraordinary. We’re overwhelmingly delighted. For phase two, we were amazed at the architects’ deftness in finding so many ways to improve the space without losing the character of phase one, which we loved so much.”
