2012 Olympic Bridge

Two permanent bridges join to form a soaring ‘ribbon’ arch, defining an enduring place at the heart of the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. Between them a temporary public piazza is created for the period of the Games by five movable bridges which afterwards become legacy gifts, helping connect and regenerate surrounding areas.

On axis with the main stadium, the 46m arch is the height of Nelson’s Column, visible from afar. Its distinctive form provides a memorable landmark and a strong orientation for the Park.

“...an elegant and beautiful structure that captures the imagination...”
